(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1982-054
INSPECTION DATE: 1/13/10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: _ CS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Eberhart Pit, a Kit Carson County 112c sand and gravel permit,
conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS traveled with Kit Carson Road and Bridge representative Walt
Isenbart to the site, and observed the site with him at approximately 1100. The mining site identification sign
was observed at the site entrance.
Kit Carson County has 47 acres currently permitted at this location. The extent of the permit area was defined
by fences. Some concurrent reclamation is underway with excavation sloping, however, some disturbed areas
of the permit have begun to erode and some slope repair will be required at this point before reseeding. Some
terracing of the larger slopes may be also required to prevent soil erosion until vegetation can establish. It was
noted that although the reclamation plan calls for no steeper than 3:1 slopes, that the excavation had proceeded
to the site's south boundary fence at a nearly vertical slope. Material will need to be backfilled in these areas to
obtain the required slopes for reclamation of the site. Also, the county will need to salvage additional topsoil
for reclamation as mining progresses as the amount currently stockpiled will not likely be sufficient to spread
over the disturbed area. No other issues were observed during this inspection.

Photo 1- representative photo of severe slope erosion and vertical face along southern border of permit area.
