We are in the process of
getting traffic information from Bowie to give to our engineering and fisheries group to determine the road work needed for
implementation of the shaft project.
From where we are standing, because the proposed access route is on NFS lands outside the permit area and leased
area, Bowie securing use of these roads falls solely under the purview of the FS, this is a separate action the FS needs to
take outside of the DRMS process; and that Bowie will need an RUP (or amend an existing one) from the FS for the
upgrade, use, and maintenance of the affected roads.
Depending on needs, there is even a possibility for NEPA if major upgrades are required...
Once we know what type of upgrade and/or maintenance is needed, we'll have a better picture of how the USFS will
permit/allow Bowie's use of USFS roads.
I'm not sure how this may affect your mine permitting side, but let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Ryan
Ryan Z.
