-2-
Rimrock has requested that it be allowed to stockpile incidental ore encountered during development of access drifts
and other mine work. Since the mine was in operation prior to the change of the law the Division will allow up to 250
tons to be stored on the existing ore pad at any one time so long as it is there for less than 180 days. The current pad
has a natural clay underlining to prevent transportation of contaminates into subsurface soils. The pad shall be kept in
good order and have a zero run-off of stormwater. A radiological survey of the pad, load area, haulage road to and
from the portal and the surrounding non-disturbed area shall be conducted prior to any ore placement. Those results
shall be submitted to the Division prior to ore placement. As a note snow cover needs to be removed down to bare
earth at survey points. A complete survey of the permit area needs to be done as soon as ground cover allows an no
later than May 14, 2010.
This letter shall not be construed to mean that there are no other technical deficiencies in your application. The
Division will continue to review your application to determine whether it is adequate to meet the requirements of the
Act after submittal of additional information.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, or by telephone no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
J
G.
