Tierra Piedra Ranch LLC
Tierra Piedra Gravel Pit
EXHIBIT "D"-RECLAMATION PLAN (revised)
Gravel pit to be reclaimed as a pond for wildlife habitat.
a. Overburden is minimal and therefore requires no stockpiles.
b. The maximum gradient of the slopes will be 3:1. The floor of pit to be left at final
grade as mining progresses.
c. Revegetation
L Topsoil to be replaced to minimum thickness of 6" in areas outside of
reclaimed pond.
ii. Topsoil will be replaced over final graded areas (along pond banks,
etc) after completion of excavation activities. Reclaimed areas to be
roughened prior to replacement of topsoil.
iii. No shrubs or trees will be planted. Reclaimed areas will be seeded
with 20-25 lbs./acre with smooth brome, spreader alfalfa, sainfoin, and
crested wheat per landowner specification.
iv. The application method for the grass seeding will be with a no till drill.
V. No mulch will be necessary for reclamation.
vi. No shrubs or trees will be planted.
d. The gravel pit will be reclaimed as a pond for wildlife habitat. Slopes of the pond
from 5 vertical feet above to 10 vertical feet below the expected average water
level will not be steeper than 3:1. The shoreline of the pond will be irregularly
shaped so that it appears as a natural feature. The DOW has been contacted for
recommendations (copy of letter attached). All disturbed areas outside of the
gravel pit will be reclaimed/ revegetated and will have a slope gradient of 0-1%.
e. A stable configuration or hydrologic balance will be achieved by an average 3:1
excavated slope of the pit faces on all sides. Excavated slopes will generally be
parallel to each side of the permit boundary. Surface water will infiltrate into the
terrace alluvial deposits at the edge of the pit and is presumed to flow into the
Piedra. River as subsurface flows. Stormwater BMPs will be utilized to prevent
any runoff from affecting off-site locations. All areas outside of the reclaimed
pond will be reclaimed with a final grade slope of 0-1%.
2. Reclamation will occur after completion of all excavation activities.
a. 25 hours for reclamation of project area outside of gravel pit
i. Tractor, 25 hours @ $90/hour = $2250.00
ii. Tractor/seed drill, 10 hours @ $95/hour = $950.00
iii. Seed mix for 1.0 acre = $200.00
b. Total Estimated Reclamation Cost = $3400.00
