RECLAMATION COSTS
EXHIBIT L
The worst case reclamation scenario will occur when Phase 3 is mined out. The following shows
the required activities necessary to reclaim the site at this point:
1. Dewatering the pit in order to backfill, topsoil, and seed disturbed areas.
2. Backfill Phase 3 slopes to 31-1:1V
3. Place and grade topsoil in Phases 3 and the haul roads and processing site to the west.
4. Seeding of all appropriate areas. Wetland seeding to be placed in the wetland fringes in Phase
3 from 5 feet below the water line to 4 feet above on the slopes. Dryland seed to be placed on
all of the slopes above the wetland area in Phase 3, the flats in Phases 3, and the haul roads
and processing site. All seeding will be accompanied by mulching and crimping as described
in the reclamation plan.
Worst case reclamation costs for this scenario are given below:
Task Description Cost
1 Dewater disturbed area (273 acre-ft @ $58/acre-ft) $ 15,824
2 Backfill Phase 3 (40,635 CY @ $0.60/CY) $ 24,381

3 Place and grade topsoil in Phase 3, haul roads, berm
areas, and sediment pond (8,551 CY @ $0.95/CY)

$ 8,123

4 Seed and mulch dryland areas in Phase 3 along with
haul roads (4.9 acres @ $750/acre)
$ 3,675

5 Seed and mulch wetland fringe along lake in Phase 3
(0.4 acres @ $850/acre) i
s 340
Tota I $ 52,343
DRMS Costs (219/6) $ 10,992
Total (including DRMS costs) $ 63,335
Gehrman Pit October 09 L-1
