4.0 - Final Stabilization and Long-Term Stormwater Management
This section provides a description of the measures used to achieve final
stabilization and measures to control pollutants in stormwater discharges after mining
operations have been completed. In accordance with the guidance documentation
(CDHPE, 1994), " final stabilization will be reached when all soil disturbing activities at
the site have been completed, and uniform vegetative cover has been established with a
density of at least 70 percent of pre-disturbance levels or equivalent permanent, physical
erosion reduction methods have been employed."
There will be a small pond, constructed as part of the reclamation activities at this
mining site. There are no planned outfalls or culverts. The ultimate reclamation of the
site is for pond and general agriculture Reclaim topography/ slope to the pond will be ,
3:1 slope toward the small pond. DRM&G and Soil Conservation Service recommended
seed mix and methods will be followed for a concurrent reclamation program after
grading and topsoil replacement activities have been completed. Most final grade
activities will take place as mining activities proceed. Efforts will be made to achieve
final grade stabilization as soon as possible after excavation activities have been
completed in any given area of the site.
