Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS) has reviewed the proof of newspaper publication
and notice to landowners within 200 feet of the proposed area of affected land for the Hukill Gulch Millsite
permit application. The proof of publication and notice were provided by Venture Resources and received by
DRMS on December 21, 2009. Rules 1.4.1(4) and 1.6.2(l)(g) of the Mineral Rules and Regulations of the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board require that the return receipts of the certified mailings to landowners
within 200 feet be provided. Please submit the return receipts as soon as possible.
Enclosed with this letter are copies. of additional written comments received for the Hukill Gulch Millsite
application. The comment letter from the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation was
received by DRMS on January 4, 2010, after the end of the public comment period. However, the comments
provided are pertinent to the proposed mining and milling operations. In particular, is Venture Resources
familiar with the Champion Comstock Mine, and will this historic property be avoided by the proposed
operations? Also, the comment letter includes an important notice of the requirements under Colorado Law if
human remains are discovered during the proposed operations. If you have any questions about the enclosed
comment letters, please contact the authors and the DRMS.
Since ly,
Allen C.
