STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
COLORADO
D IV IS I ON OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY

INTEROFFICE Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
MEMORANDUM Harris Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
TO: Joe Dudash Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
FROM: Jim Star
SUBJECT: Bowie No. 2 Mine TR-65 Cost Estimate
DATE: 6 January 2010
Attached is the reclamation cost estimate for the Bowie No. 2 Mine's Technical Revision
65 - drilling one geotechnical hole and credit for gob vent holes not drilled. The estimate
is 5 tasks and represents a decrease in liability of $135,569.00. This decrease is slightly
less than the $135,979.00 shown in the estimate submitted by BRL. The main reason for
this difference is the fact that BRL uses a standard percentage for indirect costs versus the
actual calculated indirect costs used by the Division. This always leads to a difference in
indirect costs and calculated liability.
The cost decrease comes from gob vent boreholes not drilled (and the associated drill pad
and light-use road reclamation). These gob vent boreholes that were removed are
GVB9B, GVB I OB, GVB I ODG, GVB 11 C, GVB 11 D and GVB 11 E from TR-52; drill pad
192 from MR-104; and GVB10B and GVB10U2 from MR-106. All reference to these
gob vent boreholes has been removed from Map-09, Hydrologic Monitoring Location
Map.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.
cc: Sandy Brown w/out Attachments
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
