3. Water Consumption for the Operation and Water Rights <br />A small amount of water will be required in the operation to control dust 'There will not he any <br />wnsh plaits or any other plants or equipment which will use water at this time, but' in <br />tile OpeffitiON io eoniFel dust. - 1 here Nsill no! he HnN N%Hsh piantg "f fljl� Vilier plants or equipmem. <br />`i ' - ° n -- at Olis ' k n - , ho%%e if in the future there are such plants or equipment, the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety will be notified as well as the Division of Water <br />Resources to ensure that adequate water is available for the proposed plants or equipment. <br />Dust will be controlled by water as needed. Water will only be used to spot water roads when <br />conditions on the access roads and in the pit warrant the use of water to control dust. Based on <br />previous experience in the Korinek Pit, it is not expected that much water will be required 4 twe <br />...,,e used to control dust. It is not expected that water is needed for the screening plant since the <br />production is below levels that CDPHE considers for these controls. Water for the dust control in <br />this operation will be taken from the groundwater sump on the pre -law area of the permit. 2.0 <br />acre -feet per year will be allocated to dust control, or 0.17 acre -feet per month. <br />Total annual depletions from the gravel and shale mining operations are estimated to be 2.040.47 <br />acre -feet per year during the mining phase. <br />4. Water Control/Diversion <br />The terrain around Korinek Pit #I is generally flat and is sloping slightly (0 — 2% grade) towards <br />the Arkansas River. In order to avoid problems with storm water and possible contamination, an <br />isolation berm will be built around the pit highwall as seen on Map C -2. Also berms will be built <br />along the south side of the pit to contain stormwater in the pit. This will isolate stormwater on <br />site and allow it to seep into the ground During mining a pair of run-off retention berms and <br />sumps will be constricted on the southeast corner of the permit area to retain run -off lmnt <br />disturbed areas. Once the site is reclaimed all stormwater containment structures will he <br />removed . <br />Korinek 41 Pit August 09 G -3 <br />
