• <br />• <br />Ank <br />ame <br />E. Cold joints shall be approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER. <br />F. Concrete shall be thoroughly compacted by vibrating with suitable tools during placement, around <br />embedded fixtures, and into the corners of forms. <br />G. Vibrators shall be operated at each point of placement and a standby vibrator in good working <br />condition shall be kept at the placement site until all concrete is placed. Vibrators shall be used that <br />will maintain at least 9,000 cycles per minute when immersed in the concrete. <br />H. Vibrations shall be used only to minimize honeycomb and accomplish compaction of the concrete, <br />and shall not be used to move concrete from one location to another. Concrete shall not be moved in <br />the forms more than 5 feet. <br />I. The surface of hardened concrete on which fresh concrete is to be placed shall be rough, clean, sound, <br />and damp. The hardened surface shall be cleaned of all laitance, foreign substances, curing <br />compound, washed with clean water, and wetted thoroughly preceding placement of fresh concrete. <br />3.03 CLEANING <br />All form materials and debris resulting from construction shall be disposed of as directed by MANAGER. <br />3.04 CURING <br />A. General: <br />1. Concrete shall be protected from loss of moisture for at least seven (7) days after placement. <br />2. Curing may be accomplished with water or a curing compound. <br />3. Water or curing compound shall be applied to formed surfaces within one (1) hour of form <br />stripping. <br />B. Water Curing: <br />1. Water saturation of unformed surfaces shall begin as quickly as possible after initial set of <br />the concrete. <br />2. The rate of water application shall be regulated to provide complete surface coverage with a <br />minimum of runoff. <br />3. Concrete surfaces shall not be permitted to become dry during the curing period. <br />C. Curing Compound: <br />1. Curing compound shall be spray- applied at the MANUFACTURER's recommended <br />coverage rate. <br />2. Unformed surfaces shall be covered within 30 minutes after final finishing. <br />3.
