§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING
ACTIVITIES --MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION
PLANS.
(B) Descriptions and maps are presented in Exhibit 8
Protection of the Hydrologic Balance. A sediment
pond is provided for mine drainage from the disturbed
areas associated with the conveyors, silos and unit
train loadout. Details of this pond are found in Exhibit
8 and on Map 11. This pond is located to the north
and west of the train loadout building. It is located in
the northwest corner of SW~/aSE~/a of Section 29,
T.13.S, R.91.W., 6'h P.M.
The sedimentation pond dam was constructed using
conventional steel bin wall construction. The bin walls
are backfilled and utilize a reinforced concrete spillway
and spillway apron. Plans, Specifications and as
constructed surveys are contained in Exhibit 8
Protection of the Hydrologic Balance. See Map 11.
The dam was constructed from April, 1979 through
June, 1979.
The storage and load-out sedimentation dam is an
existing structure and meets the requirements of
4.05.2., .5, .6, .7, and .17. It is located immediately
downstream of all storage and load-out facilities and
over the Farmer's Ditch, an irrigation canal that has
been piped beneath the load-out area.
The storage capacity of this pond is approximately 1.8
acre-feet. Approximately 16 disturbed acres and no
undisturbed acres drain into the pond. Taking into
consideration the re-vegetation measures which will
help reduce sediment, this would require 16.0 acres x
0.035 acre-feeUacre = 0.56 acre-feet for sediment
i
storage capacity. The 10-year, 24-hour precipitation
event would generate 16.0 acres x 0.04 acre-feeUacre
= 0.64 acre feet. The total required sedimentation
TR-020
2.os - 1 s
3/01
