Final Revegetation Success Standards
Final revegetation success will be judged for vegetative cover, herbaceous production,
and species composition through the use of the approved success standards.
Quantitative comparisons for vegetation cover and herbaceous production will be made
using the Student's t-test or Confidence Interval test. Reclaimed area vegetation cover
and total herbaceous production values will be evaluated for statistical equality to the
predictive equations if the reclaimed area values do not equal or exceed the predicted
value. Species composition will be judged on meeting the species composition standard.
Total vegetation cover. Reclaimed azeas will be considered successfully reclaimed to the
final revegetation success criterion if the total vegetation cover on the reclaimed area is
not less than 90 percent of the predicted vegetation cover value with 90 percent statistical
confidence using cone-tailed test using the equation: y = 0.0173 xj -0.8592 xZ + 14.562 x
-47.OI5, where x is the cumulative value of precipitation from September to July of the
following year at the mine and y is the resultant vegetation cover.
Herbaceous production. Reclaimed areas will be considered successfully reclaimed to
the final revegetaHon success criterion if the total herbaceous production on the reclaimed
area is not less than 90 percent of the total herbaceous production value with 90 percent
statistical confidence with aone-tailed test using the equation: y = 0.3749 xr'~'"~`, where x
is the cumulative value of precipitation from September to July of the following yeaz at
the mine and y is the resultant total herbaceous production.
Woody plant densiri. There is no woody plate density revegetation success standazd.
o`~~
Species Composition. To meet the requirements of the final revegetation success
criterion for species composition, species composition on any reclaimed azea shall be
such that there are at least four perennial species of which three are warm season
perennial grasses and one is a cool season perennial grass. No one component of the
above four species should comprise greater than 40'/o relative importance nor less than
3% relative importance. Relative importance will be measured by calculating relative
cover of the revegetation species. Vegetation species that may be used in the calculation
of species composition may be any plant species not defined as a noxious or prohibited
plant species, and may be native or introduced.
~.
~ICob
