4.0 RECLAMATION CONDITIONS
The reclamation plan allows for groundwater to fill the lakes. Groundwater
exposed to the atmosphere by the lake surface will evaporate. Pan evaporation
in the area of the Stroh Pit is approximately 39.5 inches /year (Farnsworth and
Peck 1982). The evaporative loss in the 28.4 acre west lake equates to
approximately 93.5 acre - ft/year or 58 GPM. The evaporative loss in the 10.5
acre east lake would be 34.6 acre - ft/year or 20 GPM. The USGS spreadsheet
calculator was used to calculate the local drawdown due to evaporative loss in
the lakes. The output is given in Appendix C. The drawdown due to the west pit
lake is predicted to be 0.3ft at the south property boundary. The drawdown due
to the east pit lake is predicted to be 0.13ft at the south property boundary.
Stroh Pit
Groundwater Analysis Report
5of8
