Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 DEC 112009
Denver, Co. 80203
December 9, 2009 uwi:..?. 1 - . ,,,,urr?a4ion,
dining Grid safety
To Whom It May Concern: This is in reference to the Permit-Revision by Western Fuels that
under the Public Notice Section. I am objecting to this revision. I have read through some of it,
and I am very upset that this type of Revision could even be approved. Those farmers who sold
their coal in good faith and were told their farms would be returned to the same condition as they
were before it was mined should have that very thing done. There should be none of this
discussion and they shouldn't have to sue or go to court and they should have to have someone
else telling them how their farms should be put back. The coal mine made an offer, the farmer
accepted and signed a contract, that should be a legal and binding document and the coal mine
shouldn't even be able to try and make changes after the fact. - -
Those farms are a very part of our community and if even one person is able to support
themselves and be self sufficient in this day and age and in our economic slump, then you should
be pushing them forward and saying HOORAY! You should force the Mine to put the farm
ground back like it was. Farm ground raises the Real Estate values twice as high as dryland and
no one wants to see any of those farms returned to a dryland condition. We need the farms and
the grazing capabilities in this area. There is very little productive, high quality, hay to bought in
this area and the area that are referred to in this Revision is some of the best. The Morgan
property is one of the nicest farms in this entire area and always has been. If you destroy a farm
like that, I think there is going to be some very upset citizens and you would be doing to total
injustice.
Thank You and for any further Comments, please contact us.
Helen Jones and Annie Nult
