ti
TETRA TECH
Mr. Jared Ebert
December 11, 2009
access in place on the reclamation plan because it is a part of the plant site area and
will remain to continue to buffer the plant site from 35` Avenue.
6.4.5 EXHIBIT E — Reclamation Plan
C. On page El of the Reclamation Plan, it states "All disturbed areas around the
perimeter of the mined area will be revegetated as needed with a native seed mix."
Please remove the "as needed" portion of this sentence. All disturbed areas above the
water line of the mining cells must be revegetated.
We have removed "as needed" from this sentence. In addition, as requested in your
Adequacy Review #1 comment letter (comment 12), we have added a list of all of the
permanent manmade structures associated with the mining operation that will remain
on the site after reclamation to Exhibit E. These structures are also shown on the
Reclamation Plan map.
6.4.6 EXHIBIT F — Reclamation Plan Map
D. Please address item 13 from the first adequacy review:
13. In accordance with Rule 6.4.6 the map must show the proposed topography of the
area with contour lines of sufficient detail to portray the direction and rate of
slope of all reclaimed lands. Please include this information on the reclamation
plan map.
Reclamation topography has been added to Exhibit F.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT L — Reclamation Costs
E. Please address item 20 from the first adequacy review:
20. It appears that the majority of the South Central Pit and East Pit will be backfilled
so that only 16 and 11 acres of open water will remain. How many acres (if any)
are already backfilled in the South Central Pit and East Pit? How deep will
material be backfilled into the South Central and East Pit?
As of the date the site was flown (October 7, 2009), approximately 19 acres have
been previously backfilled in the South Central Pit and 12 acres have been previously
backfilled in the East Pit.
Reclamation fill depths will vary depending on whether an area is reclaimed as
upland or wetland. Areas reclaimed as wetland will require fill to the water table
elevation and areas reclaimed as upland will require additional fill. The north fill
area of the South Central Pit and the fill area of the East Pit may be reclaimed as
either wetland and/or upland depending on the amount of fill available. The south
part of the South Central Pit will be reclaimed as upland. Approximate fill depth
ranges are summarized in the following table.
