1
• 2.05. 3 (3 ) (c)
ACCESS TO STATION TO STATION DRAWING NO.
1 ) Ponds A & B 75+00 to 99+00 123
2 ) Topsoil Pile #1 100+00 to 103+00 124
3 ) Pond C 104+00 to 119+00 123
4 ) Pond E 120+00 to 125+00 123
5 ) Pond D 126+00 to 140+00 124
6) Topsoil Pile #2 141+00 to 145+00 124
7 ) Office Area 146+00 to 149+00 124
Topsoil will be stripped from the haul road align-
ment prior to the start of construction of the road. Borrow
ditches typically 18' deep will be excavated on one or each side of
the road to provide material for the subgrade of the road. Where
necessary, depending on the subgrade condition and the intended use
of the road, gravel surfacing will be placed on the road. The road
surface will be 20 feet wide. Road #1 has a pitch grade of 15% for
600 feet and road #4 has a pitch grade of 12% for 150 feet. All
other access road grades are less than 10% so the overall grade of
the access roads is obviously not steeper than 10%. Cut and fill
slopes will be constructed using 1. 5H: 1V slopes .
Drainage for the access roads will be provided by
borrow ditches and numerous culverts . The sizing calculations for
• the ditches and culverts are presented in Exhibit 9 . One of two
ditch and culvert sizes will be used for all of the access roads.
Either an 18 inch culvert with an 18 inch deep borrow ditch or a 24
inch culvert with a 24 inch deep borrow ditch will be used. The
culverts to be used are numbered 1 through 12 and are shown on the
drawings and the sizing calculations are presented in Exhibit 9.
Where borrow ditch drainage runs through a 18 inch culvert, an 18
inch borrow ditch will be constructed. Where borrow ditch drainage
runs to a 24 inch culvert, a 24 inch borrow ditch will be
constructed.
To provide erosion control, the borrow ditches and
cut and fill slopes will be seeded. The seed mix used will be that
used to stabilize the topsoil stockpiles or other appropriate seed
mix approved by the Division. Broadcast seeding will be used.
Six of the seven access roads have been reclaimed or
were never constructed. The No. 1 Access Road that provides access
to Ponds A & B has not been reclaimed. The No. 1 Access road may
remain in place to provide access to the ponds . By a letter dated
August 1, 1991, the landowner requested that the two sediment ponds
be left in place. They view the sediment ponds as an asset. The
issue of leaving the ponds in place and not reclaiming the No. 1
access road will be addressed by a future permit action. The
access road and ponds will be required on site until vegetation is
• established and it is demonstrated that the requirements of Rule
4 .05.2 (2 ) are met.
2 . 05-7i January 1994
