Therefore for Calamity Draw, WFC proposed to sample SW-N108 and SW-N103 once
pre year for all field parameters and lab analyses.
Tuttle Draw
Sample point SW-N3 was moved further downstream during the life of New Horizon
Mine #2, but is still the downstream sampling point for Tuttle Draw. SW-N1, the
upstream sample point, has been sampled since 2001 by Western Fuels, and was
sampled by Peabody from 1980 to 1987. The sample data from both SW-N3 and SW-
N1 shows almost exactly the same pH values. Figure 3 shows both pre mine and post
mine water sampling data for pH on Tuttle Draw.
10.0
9.5
9.0
85
= 8.0
a
75
7.0
6.5
60
Tuttle Draw pH
•
•
A& A
• • • .?! • •
C I• • • ' • ? ? ?••• •' •
•IA1 •
:
+?a w
.w • ? •
A At AA
• • • ? •~ '?
•• •
•
t •
May-79 Nov-84 May-90 Oct-95 Apr-01 Oct-06 Apr-12
Date of Collection
• SWa41 Pre We
SW-N3 Pre Mule
• SW-N1 Past Mine
SW-N3 Post Mine
Figure 3 - Tuttle Draw pH
Similarly, the TDS in Tuttle Draw has remained consistent between upstream and
downstream points in both pre mine and post mine cases. Figure 4 shows this
comparison below. Sampling at SW-N1 and SW-N3 will be on a semi-annual basis.
