The seed suppliers have informed Honeywood that
Galletta will be in short supply. This minor revision application
is submitted to obtain approval to substitute Sideoats grama,
Bouteloua curtivendula for the Galletta in whole or in part.
Galletta and sideoats grama are both native, warm season, bunch
grass sodformers that require a minimum of 8-inches of
precipitation. Both are palatable to livestock. The pure stand
seeding rate in pure live seeds per acre for galleta and sideoats
grama is 6 and 4 pounds respectively. The seeds per pound for
galleta and sideoats grama are 159,000 and 191,000 respectively.
The existing seed mix has galleta at 2.4 #/acre which equates to
8.8 seeds per square foot. At 100% replacement, sideoats grama
will be seeded at the rate of 1.6 #/acre which equates to 7.0 seeds
per square foot.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jim Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
cc: Dave Andrews
Rick Ward
