RF,: Manmade structures within 200' of the Parsons Mine
Dear Derek:
Lafarge West, Inc. (Lafarge) has applied for a Regular 112 Operation Permit with the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS) to mine sand and gravel on the Parsons Mine
which is located within portions of Section 25 and Section 36, T6N, R 67W of the 6` P.M.; and
Section 30 and Section 31, T6N, R 66W, of the 6 th P.M., County of Weld, State of Colorado. We
are notifying you because the City of Greeley has been identified as the owner of two manmade
structures, specifically County Roads 25 and 64 within 200' of the land affected by mining and
reclamation operations at the Parsons Mine site.
Deere & Ault Consultants, Inc. performed a stability analysis of the site to determine appropriate
setbacks from permanent manmade structures within 200' of the mining operation areas. The
attached Stability Analysis Report and map identify all structures within 200' of the mining
operation area and recommend appropriate setbacks. Please contact me immediately if you are
aware of any other permanent manmade structure(s) that the City owns within 200' of the land
affected by mining and reclamation operations at the Parsons Mine site.
To protect County Roads 25 and 64'/2, Lafarge will maintain the minimum setbacks recommended in
Deere and Ault's Stability Analysis Report. Following these minimum setbacks should protect the
County Roads; however, in accordance with DRMS Regulations, Lafarge is required to attempt to
obtain the City's permission to mine less than 200' from the roads. Therefore, Lafarge is asking you
to sign the attached Agreement which commits them to repairing, replacing or compensating you for
any damage caused to the roads by the Parsons Mine operations. If the City chooses to execute the
Agreement, please mail one signed and notarized original of the Agreement to Jennifer E. Vecchi at
the address below by December 18, 2009.
Jennifer E. Vecchi, AICP
Vecchi & Associates, LLC
P.O.
