Honeywood Coal Company <br />Phase II Bond Release Application <br />Supplemental Information <br />Topsoil Information <br />By letter dated October 12, 2009, Honeywood Coal Company applied for a Phase II <br />bond release. Honeywood was advised by the DRMS that topsoil needed to be <br />addressed in a Phase II bond release application. <br />The quality and quantity of topsoil in mining areas no. 1 and no. 3 are detailed in the <br />permit application package at Volume I, Tab 7, pages 7-1 through 7-31. The quality of <br />the topsoil was suitable for replacement on the reclaimed areas. Pages 7-8 and 7-15 <br />provide an estimate of the average thickness of topsoil in mining area no. 1 and no. 3 <br />respectively. <br />Topsoil from mining area no. 1 and no. 3 was salvaged as required by the DRMS rules <br />and regulations. Average topsoil replacement depth is estimated to be 10.7" and 16.4" <br />in mining area no. 1 and no. 3 respectively. <br />Figure 1, Hamilton Mine, Bond Release Map was amended to show the estimated <br />average topsoil replacement depths. Figure 1 is attached. Topsoil quality and quantity <br />data from Volume I, Tab 7, pages 7-1 through 7-31 are enclosed. Topsoil sample <br />locations are shown on permit application drawing 112 which is included by reference.
