Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial coal inspection conducted by Jason Musick of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety(Division)on 08 December 2009. The weather was cloudy and
snowing. The mine site was wet with substantial snow cover during the on-the-ground inspection of
the site. Jeff Dubert of BME was informed of the inspection.
The mine is currently operating as permitted. Deserado Mine continues to longwall in panel 10.
Roads
The access road to the facilities area was well maintained with no problems noted. The haul road
was snow covered and was stable with no signs of erosion or damage. The conveyor corridor road,
access roads and light-use roads were snow covered and appeared to be in good condition with no
problems noted. All roadside ditches and diversions were snow covered at the time of the inspection.
Reclamation Success
Ongoing reclamation of degas boreholes was in process at the time of the inspection. The pads for
Borehole LW B 9-2 and Nitrogen Injection Hole SC HG-33 were snow covered with and graded at the
time of the inspection.
LWB 9-2 Reclaimed Pad
