Box 1849
Grand Junction, CO 81502 /
Re: Soaring :Eagle Gravel Pit, Permit No. M — 025 1999 , Reclamation Costs Update
Dear Mr. Settle:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety periodically evaluates all permitted sites to ensure that there is an
adequate financial warranty in place to cover the estimated costs for reclamation. Staff has completed the review for the
above referenced permitted site. Based on the current conditions at the site, the current bond of $242,488.00 is adequate
at this time.
The calculation is based on the assumption that Grand Junction Pipe and Supply Company will provide the required 2'
d50 Rip -Rap required for the construction of the inlet and outlet structures. Please provide photo documentation of the
materials that are on site that are to be used as the 2' d50 Rip -Rap. Also provide written documentation that Grand
Junction Pipe and Supply Company assures that 3,080 cubic yards of 2' d50 Rip -Rap material will remain on site for the
construction of the required inlet and outlet structures. Please provide the requested materials no later than 12/18/2009.
If the requested materials are not provided to this office by 12/18/2009 a recalculation of the reclamation costs will be
conducted to account for the purchase and delivery of 3,080 cubic yards of 2' d50 Rip -Rap which will add an additional
$61,628.00 to the enclosed estimate.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 S. 3 rd Street, Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
Travis Marshall
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Steve Shuey, DRMS
Enclosue(s)
Office of
Office of Active and Inactive Mines
Mined Land Reclamation Denver •Grand Junction •Durango
