The applicant proposes
to expand its underground development mining and underground longwall mining operations
into Sections 17, 18, 19, and 20 of T5N, R86W, and Sections 13, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 34,
and 35 of T5N, R87W, 6th P.M., Routt County, Colorado. The applicant proposes to affect an
additional 2,540 acres overlying underground workings, but proposes no additional permit area
acreage. Some
surface areas overlying and immediately adjacent to the proposed underground mining acreage
are expected to be affected by subsidence.
The Foidel Creek Mine is located in Routt County, approximately 23 miles southwest of
Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The underground operation has an anticipated maximum pro-
duction capacity of 12 million tons per year. Coal interest is Federal and private, and the
surface to be affected is Federal and private land. The permit area encompasses approximately
19,940.00 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all
requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34 33 101, et seq.,
C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, including any stipulations, are on file for public inspection
at the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Room 215, Centennial Building,
1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203 and at the Routt County Clerk and Recorder,
136 6th Street, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
