III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a Partial Inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted by Marcia Talvitie of the <br />Colorado DRMS beginning at 12:50 p.m. on Monday, 16-Nov-2009. No representative of <br />the operator was present during the inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and <br />cold. <br />The permit area and surrounding region had received rain and snow throughout the <br />previous weekend. Some snow still remained in shaded areas and on north-facing <br />slopes. The ground surface everywhere was damp. <br />Roads <br />Roads were damp but not muddy. Access to Pond B and Mining Area No. 3 was not <br />attempted. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Ponds A and B (Figure 1) were both dry. <br />Fish & Wildlife <br />Three mule deer were browsing in the drainage upstream of Pond A. <br />Hamilton Mine C-1991-078 16-Nov-2009
