Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 23, 2009, an application to revise <br />coal mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This revision seeks to modify the post-mining land uses; to revise the collection ditch and sediment pond system; <br />to adjust the post-mining surface elevations; and to address prime farmland concerns; all for permit areas located <br />west of 2700 Road. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1 mile north of Nucla, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Sections 25 and 36, Township 47 North, Range 16 West; Section 31, Township 47 North, Range 15 West; Section <br />6, Township 46 North, Range 15 West; and Section 1, Township 46 North, Range 16 West. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Nucla. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Montrose County Courthouse Annex, <br />300 Main, Nucla, CO 81424, and at the Division office.
