The locations of these drill
holes are shown in Figure 1. The drilling was perti?rmcd using 4-inch-diameter continuous-flight
augers. Califonlia Tube samples were collected every 3 ft. Below the organic-rich topsoil was a
laver ot- clay derived from the weathering of the mudstonc overburden. The depth of this clay
varied from 3.? ft to 17-5 tt below the original ground Surface. The actual depths are presented
in Table 1. The base model geometry is shown in Figure 2.
Table 1. 2008 Auger Drilling Data
Drill-Hole IU Depth of Topsoil Depth to Rock Soil Type
(ft) (ft)
(AS-1 1.0 ().0 Grey clay.
GS-2 I.) 3.5 Dark-brown clav
GS-3 2.11 10.0 Dark-brown clay
GS-4 2.0 I6.5 Dark-hro\%n clav
GS-5 3.(1 17.5 Dark-brown clan
GS-6A 1.0 5.0 Ycllo\\-brown clav
GS-7 3.5 16.0 Dark-brown clav
GS-8 2.0 4.5 Yellow-brown clav
GS-9 1.5 8.0 Yellow-brown clay
GS-10 I.5 7.5 Yellow-brown clay
GS-1 1 3.0 9.0 Ycllow-brown clay
Agapito Associates.
