Ill. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the King I and 11 Coal Mines flown by Harry Ranney on November 19,
2009. Tom Kaldenbach examined digital images on a computer monitor on November 24, 2009.
Twenty two photos were taken during the flyover; seven of the photos are shown below.
The ground was mostly clear of snow. The sites appear in the aerial photos as they did two months earlier
during a complete on- ground inspection. No compliance problems are evident in the photos.
Processine Waste
The waste pile showed no evidence of instability. The face of the waste pile appeared well- maintained.
Diversion ditches extending from the top of the pile appeared in good condition.
General Mine Plan Compliance
Ground surface disturbance appears to be confined to approved areas.
Air Resource Protection
No dust problems were evident in the photos.
Photo 1 — King 1 Mine overview of most of surface facilities area.
