Spring 2009 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
• previous photographs from this location show there to be little change (see Figures 20 and 21 of
the fall 2008 subsidence monitoring report).
The first reference to this location in this report can be found in Section 5.1 .2 as observed from
Photographic Observation Point 8. Observations from this location also indicate that there has
been relatively little change since this rockfall /landslide was first observed in spring 2008.
•
Figure 25. Southeastward view from Photographic Observation Point 2 during spring 2009 of a
rockfall /landslide area in a massive sandstone cliff of the Ohio Creek Member of the Mesaverde
formation above the entries between mined Longwell Panels 19 and 20.
5.6.3 Photographic Observation Point 2
Location 6 is also the site of Photographic Observation Point 2. For the past several years this
location has been used to observe a rockfall /landslide area located 4,400 feet south of this point
in the upper, massive sandstone cliff of the Ohio Creek Member of the Mesaverde Formation
(Location 8 on Map 1). Figure 26 shows this area as observed from this observation point.
Comparisons to previous photographs from this location show there to be little change (see
Figure 13 of the spring 2007 and Figure 25 of the spring 2008 subsidence monitoring report).
r L
831 -032.791 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. page 38
November 2009
