EXHIBIT D MINING PLAN (CONT.)
take place. Stockpiles of material will be maintained on the
site and, as the need arises, it will be hauled to our project
sites. This will be a single stage operation, but the amount of
disturbance will be limited to 20 acres or less at any one time.
This will allow us to use approximately 5 acres as a processing
plant:/stockpile area and approximately 15 acres for the active
mining area. As mining progresses around the property the bank
slopes will be mined or shaped to the required grades where they
are in their final location. This will reduce the amount of work
that has to be done to reclaim the site. Reclamation will begin
once we have enough area for stockpiled material and the section
to be reclaimed will not have to be disturbed again.
We do not expect to reach bedrock in this area due to the
depth of the gravel and the wish to control the final floor level
along the drainage. Review of MAP EXHIBIT C-1 shows how we expect
the site to look when mining is approximately 626 done. Note,
the floor of the excavation is flat and the slopes into the mined
area are 3h to lv where mining is complete on the perimeter.
The excess overburden will be used to backfill parts of the
exterior slopes. Please note that reclamation is running concur-
rent with mining to reduce the amount of disturbance at any one
time and that reclamation is following option 1.
By limiting the amount of area stripped at any one time we will
lessen the visual effects of the mining operation on surrounding
area: as much as possible. Please refer to the MINING TIMETABLE on
page 11 for the estimated acreage of each area associated with
the mining part of this operation.
This mine adjoins another mine along the northwest side
operated by Mountain Park Concrete (Permit # M-1998-034). We are
having discussions with the mine operator to join the floors of
the two mines in the future. If this is done each party would
mine to their respective property line until the floors meet.
This would reduce the amount/of sloping work needed where the
mines meet by eliminating the ridgeline between the two mines.
We have developed two reclamation plans for this area so in the
future we will only need to file a Technical Revision to imple-
ment the change.
Mining equipment may include but is not limited to, front-
end loaders, scrapers, a dragline, bulldozers, dump trucks and a
water truck. Processing equipment may include but is not limited
to conveyors, crushers and screen plants. A scale and scale
house as well as shop and maintenance buildings may also be built
at the mine during its life.
As much as possible, the surface drainage will be maintained
in the same direction as it now exists. The proposed sloping
plan for the excavated area should eliminate any concerns of
erosion occurring on the site.
On a typical operation of this type we may use 2 to 3 ac-ft
of water per year. Most of the water used for dust control will
be used on haul roads. Please refer to EXHIBIT G - WATER for the
discussion of how water will be used at the site and the source
of said water.
a
10 (revised 9/23/09)
