Dear Mr. Sorenson: You have requested clarification on the allocation of additional Affected Area relating to monitoring wells and pipeline corridors. Here is a breakdown of those areas: Up-Gradient Monitoring Well Affected Area, 5' radius circle centered at well's casing = 78.5 sq. ft. Down-Gradient Monitoring Well Affected Area, 5' radius circle centered at well's casing = 78.5 sq. ft. 2" Tailings Discharge Pipe & 125" Recycle Water Pipe corridor from Mobile Millsite to Impoundment, 1.0 ft. wide by 1,500 ft. long = 1,500 sq. ft. 1.25" Recycle Water Pipe corridor Water Holding Pond to Mobile Millsite, 1.0 ft. wide by 150 ft. long = 150 sq. ft. Total Affected Area of these items = 1,807 sq. ft. = 0.042 acres (addition of this to the previous Affected Area of 8.717 acres equaled 8.759 acres . . . I rounded to 8.76 acres for reporting on the revised application). The 1.0 ft. width of space allotted for these pipeline corridors is more than sufficient to occupy the pipes specified. HDPE pipe of ASTM D3035 specification has the following outside diameters, independent of wall thickness: 2" Nominal - 2.375" outside diameter 1.25" Nominal - 1.660" outside diameter The remaining, unused corridor width may be occupied by any other such future appurtenances necessary to facilitate the proposed operation as defined in Exhibit C, so long as the sum total width of each of the appurtenances does not exceed 1.0 ft.
