Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety has received Pioneer Sand's submittal of activity reports
for the past five years for the above referenced permits. The issue of possible inactivity was noted as a
problem in reporting for the sites during October 21, 2009 inspections. The updates note stockpile
removals, weed control and grading at all three sites on an annual basis. Therefore, the noted problems
are considered abated.
As noted by Pioneer, it is in its best interest to include all activities done on site in the annual reports to
ensure compliance with the 5 year rule for reclamation even in intermittent status. Thank you for your
prompt response to the issue.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, or by telephone
no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
G.
