2.05.3(3)(c)
• The alignment and grade of the haul road is shown on The
Haul Road, Plan & Profile, Drawing Nos. 121, 122 & 124. The
maximum pitch grade is 10%. Only one area of the road requires
any significant cut and fill work. This area is between mining
Area No. 1 and No. 2 in the low point where the culvert will be
required. Three to four feet of excavation will be performed on
each side of this low point to reduce the grades on both sides
and provide fill material for the culvert placement. In these
areas the topsoil stripping width will be increased to 60 feet.
•
To provide erosion control, the borrow ditches and
cut and fill slopes will be seeded. The seed mix used will be
that used to stabilize the topsoil stockpiles or other appropri-
ate seed mix approved by the Division. Broadcast seeding will be
used.
The layout of the haul road is such that the
relief from one side to the other is no more that two feet. In
most cases the haul road will be constructed on level ground.
The difference in elevation from side to side will be made up for
during the excavation of the borrow ditches. The stability of
the road is not considered an issue. There is simply no poten-
tial failure zone in the road embankment.
The two "haul road" sections will be constructed
in accordance with the performance standards under Rule
4.03.1(3).
As the mine advances to the south, the haul road
to the north will temporarily obliterated. As the pits advance
though the haul road, it will be temporarily be routed around the
active mining pits. As the spoil ridges are regraded, the road
will be reestablished.
.Access Roads
Seven separate access roads will be constructed
within the permit area. All of the access roads will be con-
structed within the sedimentation control system so potential
damage to fish, wildlife, and related environmental values is not
an issue. Since all the access roads are to be constructed
within the disturbed area then the design and construction per-
formance standards under Rule 4.03.2(3) are not applicable.
The seven acpes5roads are identified as follows:
• 2.05-7 July 1991
