Culverts
• The culverts to be retained in conjunction with the permanent roads are shown on Exhibit 20-2, Post Mining
Topography, and include the following.
Road "A" Road `B" Light Use Roads
YA-1 36" YB-1 24" EX-2 30"
YA-2 36" YB-2 24" EX-4 30"
YA-3 48" YB-3 24" EX-5 30"
YA-3A 36" YB-6 30" LU-1 24"
YA-4 36"
YA-4A 24"
YA-5 36"
YA-5A 24"
YA-6 60" (2)
YA-7 24"
YA-UN 12"
YM-1 4"
De ign documentation is contained in the PAP in Tab 13, Facilities, Attachments 13-8, Culvert Calculations and 13-12, Drainage
and Sediment Control Plan.
Water Well
The existing Yoast Mine Shop Well was installed to supply domestic and industrial water for the Yoast Mine. It is
• completed to 1,000 feet in the Twenty Mile Sandstone and is permitted to produce up to 35 gallons per minute.
This well will be retained to supply water, as necessary, for wildlife and livestock consumption, shrub plot irrigation,
and other land owner uses as identified in the future. The well completion summary is found in Tab 7, Appendix 7-
1 and the water right permit is located in Tab 16, Attachment 16-4.
Powerline and Substation
There is an electrical substation and approximately 7,355 feet of powerline within the Yoast permit area. This
facility was constructed to provide electricity to mining equipment used at the Yoast Mine during mining and is
owned by Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA), the entity that provides power to the area. YVEA has
provided a letter stating that these are privately owned facilities (a copy of the letter is attached).
Fenced Shrub Plots
There are six (6) shrub plots enclosed with big-game proof fencing. These enclosures vary in size from 2.6 acres to
10.7 acres. These enclosures were originally required by permit conditions and should remain inplace to ensure
protection for aspens and other shrubs/trees from foraging by elk, deer, and livestock.
Sediment Ponds
The Yoast permit area currently contains four (4) sediment ponds that will remain as permanent structures following
reclamation. These impoundments will support the post mining land use of rangeland, livestock grazing, and
wildlife habitat. Under applicable provisions of Rule 4.05.9(13), the permanent ponds must meet the following
criteria:
• (a) The quality of the impounded water shall be suitable on a permanent basis for its intended use, shall meet
applicable state and federal water quality standards and discharge of water from the impoundment shall
MR-29 20-1.4 9/09
