One exceedance was noted for 002A, the 30 day
average for TSS was 98 mg/L in July as opposed to the permit limit of 75 mg/L. Only one sample
was collected that month. Note that TSS for June 30th was 31 mg/L, and subsequent TSS
samples in August and September were 12 mg/L and 19 mg/L, respectively.
Outfall 001 A/001 W/MON1 discharged each week in July, the first two weeks in August, and did
not discharge for the remainder of the period. One exceedance was noted for 001A in July, (30
day average for total recoverable iron was 1090 ug/L vs. the permit limit of 1047 ug/L). The
discharge water for this site is treated with an electro-coagulation system. It appears that the
plates on the system needed to be replaced. Subsequently in August, TR iron concentrations
ranged between 770 ug/L and 910 ug/I, with the 30 day average at 826.7 ug/L. The pumping
system was subsequently shut down, and discharge ceased the second week in August, with no
further discharge occurring to date.
I recently conducted an internal file review on DMRs for this permit. Based upon a review of our
files, it may be possible that MON1 DMRs for the second and third quarters of 2008 were not
mailed out. Therefore, I have enclosed copies of these with wet signatures. If you already have
these in your files, please disregard. I also noted a number of cover letters from other periods
indicating 001A/001W (the same site) had not flowed, however a specific reference to MON 1
(again, the same site) was omitted. To cover this omission, I have attached DMRs for MON1 with
the no discharge box checked off. If you have any questions, please contact me directly at: (970)
870-2750.
Very truly yours,
?
4
Brian A.
