(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: -M-2002-014
INSPECTION DATE: In/15/ng INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: MAC
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). Randy Robins of Robins Construction, LLLP was also present for the inspection. The Robins Rock
Pit No. 1 is located 10 miles west of Antonito, Colorado.
The Division received a conversion application for this site on June 29, 2009. The application was filed for
review on October 23, 2009; the decision date is January 20, 2010. The applicant is proposing to increase the
current permitted acreage from 9.84 acres to 18.53 acres. The additional acreage will be added onto the west
side of the permit boundary. The public notice was posted at the entrance to the site and the permit boundary
was clearly delineated with boundary markers.
The proposed post-mining land use for this site is residential. Mining within the current permit boundary is
nearing completion. Upon approval of the conversion application, mining will progress to from the northeast
corner of the site towards the southwest corner. The proposed site is bounded by Conejos County Road D.5 on
the east and Conejos County Road 3.5 to the south; both of the county roads are over 200 feet from the acreage
to be added to the permit. A barb wired fence runs on the west and north sides of the acreage to be added; the
fence is owned by the Applicant. The only structure identified within 200 feet of the affected area is a telephone
line on the west side of the site.
The site is an open field with no structures or water features. The vegetation consisted of sagebrush, yucca,
cacti, and native grasses. No noxious weeds were observed. No wildlife was observed.
Based on this inspection, no observations were made that would restrict the approval of this application.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Randy Robins
OPERATOR: Robins Construction.
