III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This mine site is currently completing the final
stages of reclamation of disturbed areas. Ground conditions were dry and the weather was
clear and comfortable.
Hydrologic Balance
Pond 8 remains dry. Ponds 6, 7, 9, and 9a all held moderate amounts of water. None were
discharging. Pond embankments appeared stable and reasonably well vegetated. Spillways
appeared open and functional. Shown below is Pond 9a below left and pond 7a below right.

The operator has
completed repair work on
ditches and downdrains
using a small leased dozer
shown in last month's
report. At right is the upper
portion of the east
downdrain at Excess Spoil
Fill 7. Smaller riprap has
been placed in the center of
the drain and larger rock
has been moved to the
sides of the channel to
better define the limits of
the downdrain.
