<br />Attachment 1 of these application materials contains a report of November 8 and a
<br />supplemental letter report of November 27, 2002, both prepared by Ground Engineering
<br />Consultants (Ground). These reports summarize a subsurface exploration program
<br />performed by Ground and make several geotechnical recommendations pertaining to
<br />maximum slopes, mining setbacks, and suitability of site materials, based on the
<br />Applicant's proposed mining plan. To assure that no damage occurs to structures within
<br />200 feet of the affected land, the Applicant will adhere to the following
<br />mininglexcavation setbacks, as recommended by Ground.
<br />• 100 feet from inhabited structures by slopes 15 feet or more in height.
<br />• 50 feet from inhabited structures by slopes less than 15 feet in height.
<br />• 65 feet from uninhabited structures, such as barns, by slopes 15 feet or more in
<br />height.
<br />• 30 feet from uninhabited structures by slopes less than 15 feet in height.
<br />• 65 feet from the embankment of the Fulton Ditch and the pavement of 1201,
<br />Avenue by slopes 15 feet or more in height.
