PHS - South Platte WQCD Exhibit 38-5
June 2009 Reg 38 RMH Clear Creek Basin Rationale
companies conduct river trips in this segment.
Point Sources: COG588055, Central Clear Creek Sanitation District
Water Quality: The Division assessed water quality data from CDOW Station SP0943, Clear Creek Site 4 above
Idaho Springs (10/28/2002 through 6/24/2003); CDOW Station SP0956, Clear Creek Site 5 Riverside Park
(10/28/2002 through 6/24/2003); RW Station 3613, Clear Creek at Idaho Springs (9/26/2006 through 4/30/2007);
RW Station 3630, below Spring Gulch (10/23/2002 through 4/30/2007); RW Station 3631, Clear Creek above Idaho
Springs (10/28/2002 through 4/30/2007); UCCWA Station CC-32, Clear Creek above the confluence with Trail
Creek (3/9/2006 through 8/19/2008); UCCWA Station CC-33, Clear Creek below the confluence with Trail Creek
(3/9/2006 through 10/19/2006); and, UCCWA Station CC-34, Clear Creek above Chicago Creek (4/1/2003 through
8/19/2008). Water quality data are in WQCD Exhibit 15.
Exceedances: The TVS values are for a mean hardness of 83.5 mg/1. The following parameters are not attaining
chronic TVS based upon assessment of the data available from the period of record: cadmium, copper, manganese,
and zinc. The following parameters are not attaining acute TVS: cadmium, copper, and zinc.
The manganese standard for segments that are designated for water supply is either 50 µg/1 or existing quality as of
January 1, 2000. Although the 85`h percentile of manganese data exceeds 50 gg/l, it is reasonable to interpret that
the manganese levels are not worse than existing quality as of January 1, 2000.
Zn (ug/1) at CC-26 and WQCD 5646, Clear Creek at Lawson
(above Mill Creek), 1998-2008
250
200
150
' Zn
100 ?yr -.*-Zn (ch) TVS
----Zn (ac) TVS
50 Y
0
CP OZ O, 59 61;15 (Z" 9J) 4& O?
