of Rock Dust Mill.
Dear Mr. Miller,
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS) has received CaIX Minerals request for a
Technical Revision of the Mid-Continent Limestone Quarry Permit. The revision is to add a "Rock Dust
Mill" to the Mining and Reclamation Plan. A review of the TR submittal notes the area where the
building will be constructed is in the "Fines Storage" Area. A rudimentary drawing in the permit file
refers to "fines" areas but nothing is identified in the original maps. In order to calculate the
reclamation liability staff must know the approximate location of the building in relation to backfill
material to figure haulage distance for cap material for the foundation, etc. Therefore staff feels it is
prudent to request a current map of the site. It is important to note that the last maps in the DRMS file
were received with a 1989 amendment. At a later date new mining and reclamation maps should also
be contemplated. Once the map has been received, staff can calculate the reclamation liability and
finish the review process.
Per Rule 1.9.1 the decision date for TR-03 is thirty (30) days from the date of filing. The Division received
full fees on October 20, 2009 so the decision date is set for November 19, 2009 provided all issues have
been addressed.
