(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2009-030
INSPECTION DATE 9/21/09
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
This was a pre-operation inspection performed by the Division for an application for a new Construction Materials 110c
permit. The operator was contacted about the scheduled inspection. The operator's representative named on page one
was present during the inspection. The operator is also the landowner.
The site is currently utilized, partly to support the operator's agricultural operation and partly in relation to the operator's
construction business, with a variety of equipment, materials and parts stored there. The land is mostly level, but the
south and west edges slope away toward the nearby natural drainages. The undisturbed portions of the site exhibit
sandstone outcropping and sparse vegetation typical of dry rangeland.
A recent bulldozer cut on the site revealed the 10-foot thick broken sandstone layer that the operator wishes to mine here.
The pit will be excavated beginning in the SE corner and moving generally westerly along the southern edge, and then
toward the north. Topsoil will be stripped prior to excavation. Material will be moved by first ripping it by bulldozer then
carrying it by loader. The pit slopes will be maintained at a 3:1 gradient or less. Reclamation will be performed
concurrently with mining, as space allows. Prior to respreading the topsoil some inert backfill material (construction
debris) that is generated offsite may be placed in the pit floor.
The operator has an adequate weed control plan already in place through the county. Stormwater runoff control was
discussed, and will be implemented during all phases of this operation, due to the potential for sedimentation into one of
the nearby creeks.
The bond amount has been estimated to be $8,978.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to this
inspector at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 691 County Road 233, Suite A-2, Durango, Colorado 81301.
(Please note: As of 7/1/08 the Durango Field Office moved to the new address, shown above. Please revise your
records as necessary.)
I & E Contact Address cc: Steve Shuey, DRMS
? CE
NAME David Cressler ? BL
OPERATOR Coal Bed Creek Construction. Inc. ?
