Notice of Proposed Decision <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has issued a proposed decision to Approve <br />Bond Release Application No. 4 (SL-4) for the Keenesburg Strip Mine, Permit No. C-1981-028. The <br />mine is operated by Coors Energy Company under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act of 1979. The bond release application was submitted by Coors Energy Company on <br />March 16, 2009. Coors Energy Company is requesting Phase III Bond release 165.29 acres of <br />reclaimed area within the Keenesburg mine permit. The requested areas consist of parcels 1, 3, 4, 8, <br />11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, and 28. Reclamation work for these parcels was <br />conducted between 1985 and 1997. The affected area is located in Weld County, approximately 7 miles <br />North of Keenesburg, Colorado. The Division has proposed to release $167,911.00 (costs associated with <br />Phase III revegetation tasks) of Phase III reclamation liability. <br />The Division has also proposed to Approve Surety Release No.I (SRI) in the amount of $37,666.00. <br />Copies of the proposed decision are available for review at the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining <br />and Safety office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the office of the <br />Weld County Clerk and Recorder. <br />Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request an adjudicatory <br />hearing regarding this proposed decision. Requests for a hearing must be made in writing within thirty <br />(30) days of the first publication of this notice, and shall state with reasonable specificity the reasons for <br />the request and objections to the proposed decision.
