Further, the model is likely conservative (on the high side) in terms of <br />assessment of impacts because the difference in head elevations (higher initial model <br />heads in MW-7 and MW-12) may produce greater model drawdown from the mine <br />dewatering than occurs during actual mining activities. The modeled on-site groundwater <br />gradient (0.007) and flow directions were essentially identical to site conditions assessed <br />from borehole logs and well data. The modeled average saturated section was 11.6 feet <br />compared to 9.5 as measured in on-site boreholes and wells. <br />Because there are relatively little field data outside the proposed mine area upon which to <br />base the model, assumptions were made that are expected to yield a conservative <br />assessment of potential impacts. <br />EnviroGroup Limited 8
