Sampling and Analysis Plan - Operations & Post-Operations <br />0 For the wells at which samples are to be collected using conventional pumping, a dedicated pump <br />(1 to 5 horsepower), associated discharge piping, and power cable will be installed in each <br />monitoring well. The downhole assembly will be secured at the well head within a locked steel <br />cover. A portable generator will be used to supply power for the pumps. <br />For the wells at which samples are to be collected using nitrogen lifting or micro-purging (low- <br />volume) techniques, the proper assembly will be installed in each monitoring well. <br />Groundwater sampling will be accomplished in accordance with the following procedures: <br />• Portable meters used to measure field parameters (pH, conductivity and temperature, <br />oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), dissolved oxygen, and turbidity) will be calibrated <br />daily prior to collection of the first sample. Calibration will be performed in accordance <br />with manufacturers' specifications. <br />• The wellhead discharge piping assembly will be connected to the discharge pipe at the <br />wellhead. The total volume of water purged from the well will be measured using a <br />totalizing inline flow meter or calibrated equipment (e.g., tank or bucket). <br />• Any electrical connections will use all-weather electric cables. All electrical equipment <br />• will be grounded and fit with ground fault interruption protection. <br />• If a totalizing inline flow meter is used, the initial flow meter reading will be recorded <br />prior to removing any water from the well. <br />• The submersible pumping, nitrogen lifting, or micro-purging equipment will be engaged <br />to initiate purging water from the well. If submersible pumps are used, all wells on the <br />pad undergoing sampling will be purged simultaneously, if possible. <br />• A portion of the flow from the well will be diverted through the sample port on the <br />wellhead assembly to measure field parameters. Field parameters will be measured <br />initially after the submersible pump, nitrogen lifting, or micro-purging equipment is <br />engaged and periodically depending on discharge rate as follows: <br />o Submersible pump - approximately every 30 minutes <br />o Nitrogen lift - each lift <br />o Micro-purge - approximately every 5-10 minutes <br />• Flow rate from the well will be measured from inline meter readings and/or at the end of <br />the discharge pipe or hose using a calibrated bucket and stop-watch. At a minimum, <br />measurements will be taken initially after the submersible pump, nitrogen lift, or micro- <br />purge equipment is engaged, periodically (5 to 20 minutes) during the purging phase, and <br />immediately before and after sample collection. <br />• <br />American Shale Oil, LLC 7
