Sampling and Analysis Plan - Operations & Post-Operations
•
•
monitoring schedule, monitoring equipment, and monitoring procedures (water-level
measurement and water-quality sampling).
3.1 Monitoring Schedule
Groundwater sampling will be performed quarterly during operations, quarterly for a one-year
period following operations, and annually thereafter for an additional two-year period.
Monitoring parameters and frequency may be adjusted as appropriate for long-term or other
potential monitoring programs based on the results of the baseline, operations, and post-
operations phases of the project. If samples cannot be collected from a well because of dry or
low-yield conditions, the field records will document that dry or low-yield conditions prevented
sample collection, and evidence will be provided to demonstrate the dry or low-yield condition.
3.2 Monitoring Equipment
The following equipment and supplies are anticipated for use to conduct the groundwater
monitoring program:
• Water level indicator
• Electric submersible pump(s) (ranging in size from 1 to 5 horsepower) or low-volume
sampling devices
• Nitrogen cylinders
• Electronic pressure transducers or in situ data logging instruments
• Portable generator and all-weather electric cables
• Wellhead discharge piping assembly with sample port
• Discharge hoses to convey purge water to discharge pit, aboveground tank, or truck-
mounted tank
• In-line totalizing flow meter and/or bucket and stop watch for discharge measurement
• Field instruments for measurement of pH, conductivity and temperature, oxidation-
reduction potential (ORP), and dissolved oxygen
Handheld photoionization detector for multi-gas monitoring
• American Shale Oil, LLC 4
