It is on the high end for the PLS if drill seeded (My preferred range is 25-60 with 40 being spot on). This can be
easily adjusted by backing off the Sideoats Grama to 3-4 lbs. instead of 7.5 lbs. It generally takes longer to establish a
native mix but it will also stand the test of time once it is established.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Tony
From: Environment, Inc. I can't
see why you don't like the mix I used, as it does have one species that is
native and it is cheap $1.59 at per pound. (Man it hard to keep a straight
face and not laugh at this point.)
Seriously, this mix is based on the Critical Planting guidelines and all
the species are listed in the NRCS report for the soil types on the mine.
It will place 61.5 seeds/sgft/acre
Species #' s PLS/ac
Sideoats Grama 7.50
Western Wheatgrass 3.00
Little Bluestem 2.00
Indian Ricegrass 3.00
Needleandthread 3.50
Total 19.00
Let me know if this is acceptable or make any suggestions that will
improve it for me.
