W ,, ;
October 9, 2009
17
The main drain was constructed in accordance with the design submitted to DRMS as part of PR-06. The
channel was constructed with a minimum width of 22 feet, with positive drainage. Suitable sandstone
fill was used for the rock core. This sandstone was sized with a maximum width of 5.5 feet, and did not
exceed 25% of the channel width. Additionally, less than 10% of the rock core fill was less than 12
inches in width. The rock was also spot checked with a Schmidt Hammer, and had an estimated
compressive strength in excess of 4000 psi. A minimum fill depth of 16 feet was achieved. The portion
of the main drain completed to design specifications was covered with Mirafi 140N filtration fabric.
Rolls of fabric with a 15 foot width were used, and a minimum overlap of three feet was used in placing
the fabric. The fabric was weighted with rock to prevent wind from substantially altering its placement.
The main drain has been completed as designed from Station M-1 to Station M-4.
2.3 Installation of Surface Drainage Systems
Surface drainage systems were not constructed during this quarter.
2.4 Placement and Compaction of Fill Materials
A limited amount of fill material was placed during this quarter. Fill was limited to a dozer push off of
the K Ridge area, in preparing the dragline walkway. This fill was inspected for stability, and no
appearances of instability, structural weakness, or other hazardous conditions were observed.
The fill placement was consistent with the design submitted in PR-06, and is limited to the footprint of
dragline spoil within the HGF footprint.
2.5 Revegetation
Revegetation activities were not conducted during this quarter.
3.0 References
Agapito Associates, Inc.
