The test holes showed little to no topsoil and
overburden material. The top surface is a mix of sands and sands and gravels. The
sand and gravel layers, which are to be mined, range from 7 feet to 25 feet deep.
The stratum immediately beneath the sands and gravels is sandstone bedrock or
clay.
The primary commodities to be mined are sands and gravels. The intended use is
for road and building construction. A temporary asphalt batch plant is proposed
within the pit and is included as part of the permit to accommodate any future road
improvement projects in the area. There are no secondary commodities to be
mined.
Waste materials such as clay are the only expected incidental products to be
mined/extracted by the proposed operation.
Explosives will not be used in conjunction with the mining or reclamation.
