revised mine plan, the effects of subsidence would be within 1370 feet of the Bruce Park Dam and
within 750 feet of the Terror Creek Reservoir. The demonstrations of no material damage that were
approved in PR-10 also apply to the revised mine plan in PR-11.
Because of the extension of B-seam mining to the north, Bowie Resources constructed a vent shaft in
the Hubbard Creek area for increased mine ventilation. The vent shaft was approved in Technical
Revision No. 48. Because of methane buildup in the active B-seam workings, Bowie Resources
recently has received Division approval through Technical Revision No. 62 to construct a ventilation
f'an at the Hubbard Creek vent shaft. Also for methane mitigation, the operator has received approval
through Minor Revision No. 108 to pump nitrogen into the recently sealed mine longwall panels.
Because the proposed B-seam mining in the northern section of the permit area was located underneath
the previously mined D-seam mining panels, the operator had to drain the accumulated mine water out
of the D-seam workings. Through Technical Revisions 54 and 58, Minor Revision No. 94 and a
revised NPDES permit, Bowie Resources pumped mine water from the D-seam workings up to the
surface, then piped the mine water over to the Hubbard Creek vent shaft. From there, the mine water
was piped down the shaft into the B-seam workings and out by pipeline to the North Fork of the
Gunnison River.
'section II - Permitting and Enforcement History
Minor Revisions (since the Permit Renewal No. 2 Findings date of 6/22/07)
MR-81 - Miscellaneous Map Updates
- submitted 7/20/07
- approved 8/03/07
- no change in bond liability
- no change in disturbed area
- no change in affected area
MR-82 - Temporary Rock Storage Area
- submitted 9/21/07
- approved 9/28/07
- bond liability increased by $9,963.00
- no change in disturbed area
- no change in affected area
MR-83 - Haul Rock to Bowie No. 1 Mine
- submitted 11/07/07
- approved 11/07/07
- no change in bond liability
- no change in disturbed area
- no change in affected area
