(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2009-042
INSPECTION DATE: 9-23-09 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety normal permit
application review program. The La Salle Pit is a 112c application submitted by Montrose County. The proposed
final reclamation is noted for commercial / industrial as the site will eventually become a county work yard.
The required public notice per Rule 1.6.2(b) was observed at the access point on a fence post just off the main road.
Currently the proposed permit boundaries are delineated by fence lines that surround the proposed area.
The current land use is agricultural. Pasture lands are irrigated for alfalfa and meadow grasses. Discussions with the
applicant's representatives note that irrigation waters to the site will be discontinued. However the field is an end
use and. no carrier ditches feed lands downstream.
All utilities and manmade structures appear to have been addressed within the application. It is noted that power
poles will need to be relocated for proposed access roads to the site which is being addressed with the power
company. An older house and ancillary building in the southeast corner of the disturbance area is scheduled for
demolition as part of the mining activities.
Currently there is a stockpile of rock chips at the southwest corner of the property. The stockpile is product
purchased by the County and located there for convenience. No materials have been produced from the site under
permit application review.
No issues are noted that need further clarifications or corrections as a result of this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Brian Wilson
OPERATOR: Montrose County
STREET: 161 South Townsend
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Montrose, CO 81401
cc:
X CE: Ben Langenfeld
?
