$4.00/gallon. This caused the fuel costs for the equipment to be very high in the latest
CRG and, consequently, in the latest version of CIRCES. The following table shows the
hourly cost changes for the equipment used in the Bowie No. 2 Mine's reclamation cost
estimate.
E ui ment New
Old Cost
Difference
% Increase

CAT 3659 Excavator $222.91 $27.46 12.3%
CAT 815F Com actor M $14150 $19.67 13.9%

er
CAT 14H Grad
$21.86
20.4%
CAT 988G Loader $182.22 $23.27 12.8%
CAT 773D Truck $175.90 $152.83 $23.07 15.1%
CAT 627G Scra er $262.83 $204.87 $57.96 28.3%
ROC-D7-11 Drill $183.98 $190.02 -$6.04 -3.2%
5,000 Gallon Tanker $105.67 $85.34 $20.33 23.8%
The Division did change the size of the dozer used for many of the reclamation tasks at
the site from a D9R to a larger D I OR, which made the net liability increase less than it
would have been had the Division not switched the dozer size. This change made sense
based on the size of the job (over 5,200 net dozer hours) and the availability of DIOR
dozers. Although the hourly cost for a DIOR dozer is more than that of a D9R dozer, the
increase in hourly productivity offsets some of the cost increases. In other words,
updating the costs for tasks using a D9R dozer would have increased the liability even
more. The following chart illustrates this point.
Task D9R Old D9R Ne New

002 $169,852.00 $197,6 627.00
009 $34,830.00 $40,5 270.00
021 $39,759.00 $46,2 686.00
P
035 $71,603.00 $83,3 492.00
081 $1,930.00 $2,2 ,120.00
126 $178.00 $2 198.00

Total $318,152.00 $370,2 ,393.00
$35
In the table above, for the six tasks shown, the direct cost increase was $33,241.00. The
direct cost savings for the above six tasks for changing to the larger dozer, however, was
$18,882.00. These savings will be similar for all tasks using a dozer, including ripping
tasks.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the estimate or the cost increases
or if you need any additional information. I also have one possible adequacy question for
your midterm review, based on my review of the cost estimate.
